There is in (the human person) an urge, an
aspiration to know the source of all knowledge, and by knowing this all becomes
known. This aspiration from without meets an inspiration from within. This
meeting of the two forms the “space” where the Divine dwells. By becoming
conscious of this aspiration, we reach the Divine Mystery. Delving into
ourselves we find the presence of this Mystery in our dynamism towards it.

Identity
I am your deepest identity.
Your breath is gift.
Everything that is
conspires
to respire in you.
Breathe in and the trees and seas
are there.
Breathe out and you return to
them,
to me, who is spirit and life,
in whom every thing lives
and moves and has its being.
I am your deepest identity.
Invisible light reveals you—
your radiant form in my gift
of embodiment, neither one nor two,
united in mysterious relation
of dark with light.
Your light shines in dark,
the unseen, seen in you.
I am your deepest identity.
From whence comes the longing
in you for love except through
my calling: Deep calling on
deep
in the roar of waters?
And who names you, if not me—
your mother, your father,
your origin and source?
I am your deepest identity.
Breath ~ Light ~ Love.
I am all of you and more of you.
And when you shed the garment
in which I dress you,
there is no return, no after,
only what has always been,
will always be—
Love holding thee.
